Passwords for the PAX terminal readers

There are two types of passwords that you may encounter on your PAX A920, A920 Pro or A80 terminal reader.

Terminal reader password

The terminal reader password is needed to configure key terminal reader settings, such as the Wifi. This is a default password and cannot be changed by the merchant.

The default settings password is either: pax9876@@ or 9876

Handpoint payment app password

When the merchant activates their Handpoint payment app for the first time, they are prompted to set a 4-digit passcode for the Handpoint payment app.

To change your password:

  1. Tap the “Settings” cogwheel from the Handpoint Payments App
  2. Tap “Security Options”
  3. Update password
